Western Washington Female Hockey League Makes History

WWFHA made state history with the Western Washington Female Hockey League (WWFHL) games – the first girls’ league in the Washington State at Highland Ice Arena. The games kicked off this past weekend with amazing success and fun!

Players took the ice with pride in their new league jerseys bearing the Washington Wild crest, league emblem, and 15th anniversary patch on their sleeves. Games were tight, fast pasted, and competitive at all the age brackets, with several ties. Most importantly, Highland Ice Arena was invaded by smiling female hockey players from the early morning to the early afternoon.

Washington Wild 10U Team Red tied both Team White and Team Grey. The 12U/14U Red Team defeated Team White 5-2. And at the 8U age level where score isn’t kept, there was a lot of back and forth play between the two teams.

We look forward to a great inaugural season for the league and congratulate the entire WWFHA family – players, parents, coaches, and volunteers – for this historic moment that was a long time in coming!
