On Friday, September 9th, the first-ever, full-time 10U all-girl hockey team for the Washington Wild took to the ice for their first practice of 2016 – a first for Washington State!

On Saturday, October 1, the Washington Wild 10U team played their first-ever game at Highland Ice arena in Shoreline, WA at 1:45pm, defeating a boy's team from SnoKing Amateur Hockey Association (SKAHA) 8-2.

The first goal was scored by Jaina Goscinski, a lone goal in the first period. A few other notable were: Claudia Cerenzia earned a hat-trick with three goals in the second period, back-to-back-to-back, and Alice Einhorn who scored two goals in the third period. Other goal scorers were Annie Johnson (3rd period) and Grace Eske (3rd period) -- her first goal in her hockey career. Ella Kowalczyk served as a goalie and turned away seven shots. The Washington Wild peppered the SKAHA goalie with 34 shots on net.

Growth doesn’t happen overnight and we appreciate everyone’s effort on and off the ice over the years (15 years!!) to help grow the game and build WWFHA to nearly 100 players this year.
