19U Rep Tier 3/A: Josefin Petterson Shakya,  with head coach Lisa McNeill
Note: this team may be either 19UA or 19UAA depending on this season's roster.

Bronze medal Olympian Coach Shakya was born in Sweden and moved to the US when she was 5 years old. She spent most of her life in Minnesota and relocated to the Seattle area a couple of years ago with her family for a new adventure on the west coast. 

Coach Shakya started playing hockey when she was 11 years old when girls’ hockey in Minnesota was just starting to grow.  She remembers watching the 1998 Olympics admiring her idols and told herself that that someday that would be her.  At age 15 she started playing for the Swedish National Team initially at wing and then at center. She played center for her Richfield High School team, where she was voted captain as a sophomore, and was a two time All-Conference player. 

Later, Coach Shakya played for the elite Minnesota Thoroughbreds amateur team, one of the top 19U programs in the country. Minnesota is a hotbed of women's hockey talent. She played in a tournament with 1998 gold-medal-winning US Olympian Jenny Schmidgall-Potter and top 10 for all-time NCAA scoring Krissy Wendell. She also competed against Natalie Darwitz, several-season Captain of the US Women's National Team, world champion, and three-time Olympian. 

In 2002, Coach Shakya earned a spot on the Swedish Olympic Team.  Sweden took Bronze that year beating Finland 2:1 in the final and the Swedish women’s team made history taking home their first ever women’s hockey Olympic Medal. While with the team, Coach Jo played alongside Swedish hockey pioneers such as Erika Holst, Maria Rooth, Gunilla Andersson and Kim Martin. She competed against Canadian greats Hayley Wickenheiser, Jennifer Botteril, Danielle Goyette, Caroline Ouelette, and US stars Julie Chu, Cammi Granato and Angela Ruggiero.

What does Coach Shakya do now? "I chose a career in physical therapy. As I had a lot of sport injuries, it seemed to be a good fit. I graduated with a BA in health and exercise science from Gustavus Adolphus College, then went on to get my doctorate in physical therapy from University of Minnesota. Last year, I started a new path. After working 9 years in outpatient orthopedics, I switched to working for the Northshore school district, and I love it. It couldn't be a better fit for me at this time in my life."

Her interest in physical therapy grew from numerous injuries both acute and chronic she sustained throughout the years playing sports.  She has a strong passion for helping people get back to their own goals and an active lifestyle. She has found a lot of success with integrating her certification in Postural Restoration with her patients.  She, of course, has a sweet spot for hockey players, but enjoys working with all age groups and athletes.

She is very excited to bring her experience in both hockey and physical therapy to the Western Washington Female Hockey Association as she returns to the Washington Wild 19U team for her third season!

16U Rep Tier 2/AA: Molly Doner, with head coach Jeff Hoff

Molly Doner joins WWFHA after a successful career playing for the University of Wisconsin. She grew up playing locally for Seattle Junior Hockey Association and Kent Valley Hockey Association.

A 4-time USA Hockey National Player Development Camp attendee, Doner earned the tournament MVP title when her team won the 19U Pacific Championship in 2011. She played for the University of Wisconsin (2012-2016) where the team was a 2-time WCHA league Champion, won the WCHA championship title twice, and made 3 NCAA Women’s Hockey Final Four appearances.

While at Wisconsin, Doner received the Badger Award for Most Inspiring Player, which goes to the player who inspires others through her commitment to hard work and unselfish play. She is also a 2-time recipient of the Impact Award, which is presented to the athlete who donates the most time to the community.

Doner brings her collegiate playing experience to the Wild 16UAA for the second season in a row, as well as her background and experience in off-ice training. She will be on ice and leading off ice practice with this team once a week for the 2019 - 2020 season.

WWFHA is thrilled to have Doner as part of the WWFHA family as a role model who will teach and inspire the next generation of elite players.
 

16U Rep Tier 2/AA: John Dunn, with head coach Anne-Marie Dion

Coach Dunn, a USA Hockey Level 3 coach, returns to the 14UAA team as a third year assistant coach for Washington Wild with a PCAHA President Series Championship title under his belt.

Previously he coached with Kent Valley Hockey Association in head coach and assistant coach roles from learn-to-play to the midget level. In 2015, his squirt team won the Portland Harvest Cup Championship and the Bremerton Battle of the Sound tournament. In 2014 his team won the league championship for the Western Washington High School Hockey league.

Dunn played for Washington State University where his son currently is the team captain, wearing his father’s jersey number, and serving as the president of the non-varsity team.

14U Rep Tier 2/AA: Jani Lyrintzis, with head coach Anne-Marie Dion

Coach Lyrintzis returns to the 14UAA team after being an assistant coach for the team last season. he prior season he was an assistant coach for the 12UAA team. With more than six years coaching experience, he previously served as an assistant coach for Everett Youth Hockey 12U and 10U age brackets, as well as the Jr. Silverti­ps 14U A1, 12U A1 and 10U A1 teams

When growing up, Coach Lyrintzis played competitive hockey in Finland from the age of 6 to 16 and won a Finnish Championship in the U15 age bracket. Three of his team mates went on to play in the NHL and another 3 played professionally in Europe. He continues to play and is currently in "beer leagues" for GSHL, Cascade and SKAHL adult hockey leagues.

Coach Lyrintzis excels in teaching defensive skills, positioning and systems to players, and he holds a USA Hockey Level 4 coaching certification as well as Hockey Canada Development 1 and Coach 2 certifications.

12U Rep Tier 2/AA: Jason Goscinski, with head coach Mike McCormick

Coach Goscinski returns to this team for a second season. He has coached three years with the Washington Wild 10U team, and a year with the 12U team. He started coaching beginners and the 8U age group five years ago for both SKAHA and WWFHA.

Coach Goscinski helped lead the 8U Seattle IceHawks Girl’s Tournament Team in 2014 – 2015, and followed that success by coaching the Washington Wild 8U Tournament Team for the following three seasons.

Holding a USA Hockey Level 3 coaching certification, Coach Goscinski served as the on-ice coaching lead for WWFHA’s beginner program two seasons ago, which boasts 40-60 players each session.

He participates regularly in games with local adult hockey leagues, where he has been captain of his team for the last 4 years. He also has a soft spot in his heart for lacrosse, as he played goalie all through high school.

12U Rep Tier 2/AA: Jim Cerenzia, with head coach Mike McCormick

Coach Cerenzia grew up in London, Ontario and has played hockey since he was five years old. He has coached beginner and 8U through 14U boys and girls teams since 1995 in Northern Virginia and Bozeman, Montana, including the inaugural 14U girls’ team in Bozeman. This past season, he was an assistant on the very successful Wild 12UAA team. He holds a Level 3 USA Hockey certification and Hockey Canada training. He focuses on individual skill development and being a good mentor to the players.

12U Rep Tier 3/A: Dave Patton, with head coach Rich Demoors

Coach Patton joined WWFHA in 2015-2016 and has earned his USA Hockey Level 3 Coaching Certification.  He has coached Learn-to-Play, 8U & 10U programs, and served as Head Coach for the 10U House program last season.  In addition, he was head coach for the 10U Development travel teams in 2017-2018 and again in 2018-2019.

Coach Patton grew up in northern New Jersey and started playing hockey with the Montclair Hockey Club shortly after the arrival of the New Jersey Devils.  He started with Learn-to-Play and advanced through house, travel, and eventually, after his parents relented, Rep AA at the Bantam and Midget levels.

In addition, Coach Patton was a four-year Letterman, and two-year captain of his high school ice hockey team.  During his senior season, he led his team to a conference title and the state playoffs for the first time in over a decade, was top five in the state for points, and was selected to the state All-Star game.

He was also a three-year Letterman in lacrosse, playing attack and midfield, earning several conference honors while helping his team reach the state playoffs for the first time in school history.

Coach Patton played men's recreational ice hockey and lacrosse at the University of Maine while pursuing his studies, and has continued to play in leagues throughout his adult life. 

Coach Patton believes the role of a coach is to encourage the best in every player, to believe in every player, and to help every player achieve their potential.
