6th Canada Cup West in the Okanogan

12U AA Seattle Wild Team at Kelowna

This past weekend the Seattle Wild 12U Spring Hockey team drove up to sunny Kelowna, BC for the 6th Annual Canada Cup West Tournament. The Okanagan welcomed the teams with a 32 degree opening day! 104 games were played by 40 teams, providing lots of action.

The Wild opened the tournament with a strong 6-2 win over the PEP Evolution, but fell against a very strong 2007 BC Prospects team in Game 2. The next morning they started slow against the Kelowna Jr. Warriors before scoring 6 unanswered goals to come back and win 6-2. Game 4 was an endurance battle against Team Pacific, and the Wild girls finished round robin play with a 2-2 record and a spot in the semi-finals. The Wild showed sparks of energy against the Northern Whalers, and fought through the end of the last period of hockey of the weekend, ending with a 5-0 loss.

In this tournament, the girls faced off against some of the best 12U talent in all of BC and were challenged every time they hit the ice. They learned valuable lessons around mental toughness and on-ice effort, both things they'll carry with them as they build into next season.

Nice job, Wild!!!!
