14U Rep Tier 2/AA Team

Players of the highest skill (AAA and AA levels) play for the 14U Rep Tier 2/AA team.  Washington Wild players are from the Seattle and surrounding Washington state area (from Bellingham to Tacoma, and Bremerton to Richland, WA), as well as other local states that do not have high level female ice hockey.

This team represents the only female US association that competes in the highly competitive Pacific Coast Amateur Hockey Association (PCAHA) - Female league in Canada - in lower mainland BC.

During the season, this team competes in league games (30+ games) and various tournaments (3-4) in the US and Canada as they vie for USA Hockey Tier 2/AA District and National Championships.

This team receives over 60 hours of on-ice practice from some of the top coaches in the area during the season, and 60-70 hours of off-ice conditioning directed by Engineered Sports.

The primary goal of this team is skill development and advancement to the next level.

Training for Collegiate Play

  • The Washington Wild offers a rigorous season of training and competition to lay the groundwork for play at the college level.
  • It is never too early to get on the college scouts' prospect lists as offers to play to play for a college team is happening earlier every year.
  • WHAT?! College talk age age 13 and 14, you ask?
    • Yes. It is never too early to get on the college scouts' prospect lists as offers to play to play for a college team is happening earlier every year.
    • Most recently NCAA D1 college coaches are identifying players at age 13 (8th grade), evaluating them at age 14 (freshmen in high school), and making 'verbal commitment' offers at age 15 (sophomore in high school). Preparing players for this early recruitment process is critical.
  • College coaches want to see players for 4+ years, at the beginning, middle and end of each season so they can assess a player's growth over the season, and from year-to-year.
  • Players gain experience and knowledge on and off the ice to help in preparation for college. We understand the importance of grades in opening doors to more college hockey opportunities; thus, we put a strong emphasis on school with our student-athletes.
  • Players receive on-ice skills, off-ice conditioning, student counseling, well-body image and foot care sessions, information on the collegiate admissions process and collegiate hockey process, time management, studying skills and more… all while playing on an elite team.

Physical, Mental and Emotional Preparation

  • Our program provides an experience that focuses on the physical, mental and emotional development of the Washington Wild student-athlete.

Long Term Success vs. Short Term Gain

  • Washington Wild teams focus on player and personal development primarily and number of wins secondarily.

Designed for Best Exposure of AAA and AA Players

  • Our program is specifically designed for both ‘AAA’ and ‘AA’ players, although competition occurs in the USA Hockey Tier 2/AA level. Our players perform better and are more easily seen by collegiate scouts as one of the top ten teams in the country at the ‘AA’ level, rather than at the middle or bottom of the ‘AAA’ level.

Coaching Staff and Training Methodology

  • Our coaching staff's training philosophy advances the growth of each player individually and the team collectively.
  • We aim to develop well-rounded student-athletes with creative problem-solving, and good decision making skills. We strive to develop ethical human beings who contribute to their community.
  • Our training environment improves skill level while promoting hockey-sense for each individual.
  • The mantra that the development of a hockey player integrates physical, mental, and tactical training while continuing to develop and expand a strong skill base for each individual drives our training program.
  • WWFHA's creative approach to training develops a challenging and rewarding team experience. Development and improvement of personal and team skills on the ice occurs within our framework of teaching the game, and allows each player the best opportunity to excel and reach her personal goals.
  • The program affords the opportunity for girls to compete against their peers and assists them in preparing for collegiate competition and potential national team selection.
