New WA WILD 12U Rep Tier 2/AA Team

WWFHA proudly announces the acceptance of the newly formed 12U Rep Tier 2/AA team into the competitive Canadian Pacific Coast Amateur Hockey Association (PCAHA) female division for the 2016 – 2017 season.

Players of the highest skill (AAA and AA levels) from the Seattle and surrounding Washington state area play for the 12U Rep Tier 2/AA team. This team represents the only female US association in the highly competitive PCAHA with home games in Bellingham, WA and away games in lower mainland BC. This season’s 12U Rep team is the first female US team of this age bracket to play in the PCAHA.

During the season, the team practices twice per week, receiving over 60 hours of on-ice practice and 60-70 hours of off-ice conditioning designed by Engineered Sports during the season. The rep team participates in 30+ female league games and attends various tournaments in the US and Canada. Various pro-staff, including hockey nutrition experts, well body counselors, foot and ankle care, college admissions advisors and college hockey process support this team.

Coach Steven Ringstad heads the newly formed rep team after a season as an assistant coach for the nationally ranked Washington Wild 19U Rep Tier 2/AA team. Growing up in Seattle, Coach Ringstad has played and coached in the Seattle area since his teens. He played Norpac hockey for the Seattle Totem and also for the Yellowstone Quake. His coaching credits include SJHA Bantam AA and Everett Hornets Tier 2 Midget boys’ teams.

A USA Hockey Level 4 coach, Coach Ringstad brings a fast-paced, excited 'rep' vigor to the ice for these first-time representative players, and his focus will be on speed, puck movement, high level skill development, and team concepts.

Matt Cleeton, current head coach for the University of Washington Huskies ice hockey team and another USA Hockey Level 4 coach, assists Ringstad. Hailing from Illinois where he started playing at the age of four, Coach Cleeton coached youth hockey while in college.  After starting as an assistant coach of the women’s hockey team (ACHA D2) at the University of Illinois, he became head coach winning a league title in his third and final year with the team.
